Letter JFK Wrote To His Lover One Month Before He Passed Away
Though John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy were seen as the ideal American couple, the president had several extramarital affairs, including a deep relationship with artist Mary Pinchot Meyer.
In 2016, a love letter Kennedy wrote to Meyer was released before auction, offering a rare glimpse into their private connection.
According to R.R. Auction, Kennedy penned the note in October 1963, just a month before his assassination, but it was never sent.
It remained in the possession of his White House secretary, Evelyn Lincoln, and was later sold at auction for nearly $89,000.
Meyer came from a wealthy family and first met Kennedy at a dance, though they reconnected years later in Washington.
She was also a close friend of Jackie Kennedy before beginning her alleged affair with the president.
Meyer was murdered in 1964, and a diary found after her death reportedly confirmed the relationship, though its contents remain secret.
