Donald Trump Reportedly Worried He Could Develop Dementia Like His Father

Despite his position as one of the world’s most powerful individuals, President Donald Trump is reportedly concerned about his long-term cognitive health. According to Timothy L. O’Brien, a senior editor at Bloomberg Opinion, Trump fears developing dementia as he ages.

This concern stems from his family history, as his late father, Fred Trump, suffered from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease before his death at age 93. O’Brien revealed these insights during an appearance on MSNBC, noting that this is a personal burden Trump has “carried forever.”

These reports emerge as Trump, now 78, is serving his second term and has made comments about seeking a third. Such a move is prohibited by the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

O’Brien described Trump as being driven by motives of “self-preservation” and “self-aggrandizement,” even joking that the President would “love to live until he’s 300.”

The journalist also observed a noticeable change in Trump’s public demeanor, contrasting him with “Trump 1.0.” He pointed out that Trump now sometimes slurs his words, appears weary, and seems less enthusiastic.

O’Brien suggested that Trump’s primary motivation for holding office may now be to stay “center stage” and legally protected, rather than a genuine passion for governance.

This personal anxiety is particularly notable given Trump’s frequent public comments questioning the mental acuity of his political opponents, such as President Joe Biden.
