Local police confirmed that there was no longer an active gunman at the scene. The City of Minneapolis assured residents that there was no ongoing threat to the wider community, though the school remained an active crime scene.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated he had been briefed on the tragic event. He noted that the FBI had quickly responded and was on the scene, and he asked the public to join him in prayer for everyone involved.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed that state patrol authorities were on-site assisting with the response. The FBI and other federal agencies were also participating in the investigation.
A family reunification area was established at 525 W. 54th Street to help parents locate their children. The public was advised to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to assist victims effectively.
