Donald Trump Speaks Out on Taylor Swift’s Engagement with a Surprising Joke
Donald Trump, who is famously outspoken, particularly regarding Taylor Swift, offered a surprisingly mixed reaction to her recent engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce.
The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on August 26th after two years together, a post that quickly amassed over 26 million likes and caused a major media stir.
This public declaration prompted immediate curiosity about a response from the former president, given their long-standing and very public feud.
Their contentious history includes Trump declaring “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social in 2024 after she endorsed Kamala Harris. He has frequently criticized her, recently claiming she was “booed out of the Super Bowl.”
Swift has been equally critical, having previously called Trump’s presidency an “autocracy” and vowing to vote him out of office.
However, when questioned about the engagement at a press event, Trump’s tone was unexpectedly congenial. He first joked, “Well, I wish him a lot of luck,” prompting laughter from reporters.
He then sincerely added, “I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck,” effectively giving the couple his unexpected approval.
