Trump to sue Trevor Noah after controversial Epstein joke at Grammys

The 2026 Grammy Awards proved far from ordinary, blending provocative fashion, surprise moments, and sharp political humor. A bold joke targeting Donald Trump ensured the ceremony would echo well beyond the walls of the Crypto.com Arena.

The night was filled with attention-grabbing scenes. Chappell Roan set social media ablaze with a daring red-carpet look, while Cher drew laughter by jokingly announcing an award for an artist who passed away over twenty years ago.

However, the most controversial moment had nothing to do with music. It unfolded during the presentation of Song of the Year, when host Trevor Noah shifted the focus toward politics and current events.

Referencing newly released Jeffrey Epstein-related documents, Noah joked that artists want a Grammy nearly as much as Trump wants Greenland, adding a pointed comment involving Epstein’s island and Bill Clinton.

Though appearing in the documents does not imply guilt, Trump’s name reportedly appears over 1,000 times. Trump has acknowledged knowing Epstein socially but has consistently denied visiting his private island or committing any wrongdoing.

The White House and Justice Department cautioned that parts of the documents include unverified or false claims. Trump himself insisted the files clear his name and accused author Michael Wolff of political sabotage, hinting at possible legal action.

After the show, Trump criticized the Grammys and Noah on Truth Social, calling the remarks defamatory. The incident highlighted how modern award shows increasingly sit at the crossroads of entertainment, politics, and public controversy.
