Celebs who’ve been named in Epstein files – and what it actually means
Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. In late 2023, the US House Oversight Committee released 20,000 pages of documents related to his case, with more evidence scheduled for future release.
These files include private emails, flight logs, and court documents. They name over 30 high-profile individuals, but authorities stress that a mention does not imply wrongdoing or a personal connection to the crimes.
The most frequently named individual is Prince Andrew, mentioned 173 times. He has consistently denied the abuse allegations against him. Other British royals like Sarah Ferguson, Queen Camilla, and Princess Diana are also named in various contexts.
Several politicians appear, including former UK Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and David Cameron. In the US, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are mentioned, with Trump’s name appearing frequently, mostly in news reports.
Many celebrities from art and entertainment are referenced. This includes Sir Elton John, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Adele, and Colin Firth. There is no evidence suggesting they knew Epstein personally.
Other notable names include scientist Stephen Hawking, footballer David Beckham, and model Naomi Campbell. Epstein’s partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is imprisoned for sex trafficking, is also extensively mentioned.
The documents have sparked significant public interest. However, it is crucial to note that being named in the files is not an indication of involvement in or knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities.
