Bizarre reason Trump has claimed Biden’s turkey pardons from last year are now ‘invalid’
In a traditional Thanksgiving turkey pardon ceremony, former President Donald Trump used his speech to criticize his predecessor, Joe Biden. Trump alleged that Biden’s presidential pardons of two turkeys the previous year were invalid.
He claimed a multi-agency investigation had looked into what he called a “terrible situation.” The basis for his accusation was Biden’s use of an autopen machine to sign the pardon.
An autopen is a device that replicates a signature and is often used by officials for routine documents. Trump declared that because of this, the turkey pardons from the year before were “totally invalid.”
He extended this logic beyond the turkeys in a joking manner. Trump suggested that every pardon Biden had issued using an autopen was similarly invalid.
Following his announcement, Trump humorously noted that the previously pardoned turkeys, Peach and Blossom, had been located. He stated he had re-pardoned them “in the nick of time” to save them from being served for dinner.
This lighthearted event contained a serious political allusion. Trump was referencing his broader claim that Biden also used an autopen for official pardons related to the January 6 committee investigation.
This is not the first instance of Trump criticizing Biden’s use of an autopen. He has previously expressed this grievance on his Truth Social platform.
