Relative of White House staffer Karoline Leavitt allegedly detained by ICE and facing deportation in bombshell revelation

Bruna Ferreira, the mother of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s nephew, is facing deportation to Brazil. She is currently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and could be removed from the United States, leaving her 11-year-old son behind.

The situation has drawn attention because of Leavitt’s political role, where she has publicly supported the immigration enforcement policies now impacting her own family. Ferreira was previously engaged to Leavitt’s brother, Michael Leavitt, who lives in New Hampshire.

A source familiar with the family stated that Ferreira and Karoline Leavitt have not spoken in many years. The source also clarified that the couple’s son has lived full-time with his father in New Hampshire since his birth.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement describing Ferreira as a “criminal illegal alien from Brazil.” Officials cited a previous arrest for battery and noted her tourist visa expired in 1999.

However, Ferreira’s family disputes this characterization through a GoFundMe page organized by her sister. The fundraiser argues that Ferreira was brought to the U.S. as a child and has long maintained her legal status under DACA.

The page states Ferreira has built a life in the U.S. and has always followed the law. Her family is now seeking financial support for her legal fees to fight the deportation.

The fundraiser also emphasizes the emotional difficulty this proceeding has caused for her 11-year-old son. The family hopes to keep Ferreira in the country she has called home for most of her life.
