New Report Reveals Chilling Final Words Between Air India Pilots Before Crash That Claimed 260 Lives
**Final Moments of Air India Flight AI 171 Revealed in Chilling Cockpit Recording**
A new report has uncovered the last words exchanged between pilots before Air India Flight AI 171 crashed on June 12, killing 260 people. The plane, bound for London Gatwick, went down shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport.
British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, was the sole survivor. Rescuers found him in seat 11A, surrounded by wreckage. He recalled hearing a loud noise 30 seconds after takeoff before the plane slammed into a building. “I saw people dying in front of my eyes,” he said.
Footage shows Ramesh walking away from the crash. He escaped through an emergency exit but lost his brother, Ajay, who was seated elsewhere. “I thought I was dead,” he said. “Then I saw an opening and ran.”
The cockpit recording reveals a tense exchange between Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kunder. One pilot asked, “Why did you cut off?” The other denied doing so. Moments later, Sabharwal radioed, “Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to lift.”
Authorities recovered 270 bodies from the crash site, which included a residential area. Police confirmed the death toll could rise as search efforts continued.
Investigators are examining why the plane failed to gain altitude. Survivors described flickering lights and an eerie glide before impact.
The tragedy has raised questions about aviation safety, with the final mayday call underscoring the pilots’ desperate struggle to control the doomed flight.
