In Wichita, a former television anchor, Angelynn Mock, 47, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The charge follows the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, on Halloween morning.
According to police, they responded to a call and found the victim with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. A neighbor reported encountering a blood-covered woman asking for 911 to be called.
Mock, who previously worked for Fox affiliates in several cities, was detained at the scene. Dispatch audio reportedly includes a woman stating she “stabbed her mother to save herself,” though no official motive has been confirmed.
In a separate Michigan tragedy, 20-year-old Sarah Carroll was killed in an apparent murder-suicide. Her ex-boyfriend allegedly shot her before turning the gun on himself after calling 911.
Sarah’s family revealed she had been stalked by her ex and had sought a restraining order. She was a student with aspirations of becoming a physician’s assistant.
Meanwhile, in South Carolina, nine teenagers have been charged in the shooting death of 16-year-old Trey Dean Wright. The altercation was reportedly planned and stemmed from a dispute over a female.
