Rosie O’Donnell speaks out after daughter gets prison time
Rosie O’Donnell has publicly responded to her daughter Chelsea’s recent sentencing to state prison. The 28-year-old violated the terms of her probation, leading to the revocation of her previous sentence.
Chelsea, one of five children O’Donnell adopted with former partners, is a mother of four young children herself. Her legal troubles began in late 2024 with a series of arrests in Wisconsin.
Her charges included serious felonies such as child neglect, bail jumping, and multiple counts of methamphetamine possession. In March 2025, she was sentenced to six years of probation after pleading guilty to several charges.
The court had imposed strict conditions, including maintaining total sobriety. However, by October 2025, Chelsea was found to be in violation of her probation terms.
While specific details are limited, reports indicate the violation is connected to new sexual assault allegations. This resulted in her probation being revoked and a prison sentence being imposed.
O’Donnell shared a childhood photo of Chelsea on Instagram with a heartfelt message. She expressed her enduring love for her daughter, stating her support despite the grip of addiction.
In a separate statement, O’Donnell asked for public prayers and compassion. She highlighted that Chelsea was born into addiction and described the situation as a painful journey for the entire family.
