HOUSE GOP MOVES TO STRIP ILHAN OMAR OF COMMITTEES OVER CHARLIE KIRK COMMENTS
House Republicans are moving to punish Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) after her remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death sparked outrage. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) has introduced a motion to strip her of committee assignments, accusing her of justifying political violence.
Omar drew backlash after saying Kirk’s death reminded her of his past comments on guns, slavery, and George Floyd. She later walked back her remarks, but GOP leaders say she crossed a line. Kirk, 31, was assassinated last week during a Utah campus event, and suspect Tyler Robinson faces aggravated murder charges.
