Truth behind whether Obama earned $40,000,000 in royalties from Obamacare as Trump makes shocking claim
Donald Trump recently amplified a false claim about Barack Obama on Truth Social. He shared a post alleging Obama collects millions in annual “royalties” from the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.
The post, which Trump captioned “WOW!”, claimed yearly payments of $2.5 million had been halted. Obamacare is the healthcare law Obama signed in 2010.
However, this claim is entirely fabricated. It originated from a satirical website known as the Dunning-Kruger Times, part of a network that publishes parody.
The site explicitly labels all its content as fiction. CNN’s Jake Tapper debunked the story, noting its satirical origins.
Trump has a history of criticizing Obamacare, despite recently considering an extension of its subsidies. The false royalty claim resurfaced a longstanding conspiracy theory.
When questioned, a White House spokesperson did not address the post’s truthfulness. Instead, they contrasted Obama’s post-presidency wealth with Trump’s claimed financial sacrifice.
The incident highlights how unverified claims from satire sites can enter political discourse. The allegation of Obama profiting from Obamacare royalties has been repeatedly debunked.
