Celebs who’ve been named in Epstein files – and what it actually means

Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. A recent release of 20,000 pages of federal documents by the US House Oversight Committee has named numerous high-profile individuals in connection with the case.

The documents include private emails, flight logs, and court records. Further evidence, including data from computers and storage drives, is scheduled for release by the US Justice Department in December.

Many prominent figures from the UK and US are mentioned. Former Prince Andrew is the most frequently named individual, cited 173 times. Other royals like Sarah Ferguson, Queen Camilla, and the late Princess Diana are also referenced, though not as personal connections.

Politicians named include former US Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, the latter mentioned 1,500 times, primarily in news reports. UK figures include former Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and David Cameron, alongside Nigel Farage.

The list extends to the arts and entertainment world. Names like Sir Elton John, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Adele, and Colin Firth appear, but authorities do not believe this indicates personal friendships with Epstein.

Other notable names include scientist Stephen Hawking, footballer David Beckham, and model Naomi Campbell. Epstein’s partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is imprisoned for sex trafficking, is also frequently mentioned.

It is crucial to note that being named in these documents does not imply involvement in Epstein’s crimes. Many mentions are administrative or from news articles, with no suggestion of wrongdoing for the majority of individuals listed.
