‘American Idol’ Music Supervisor Robin Kaye Found Dead with Her Husband Inside Their Home
The tragic deaths of renowned “American Idol” music producer Robin Kaye, 70, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, 70, have shocked the community. The couple was found shot in their Encino home on July 14 after a welfare check prompted by concerned family members. Police are investigating the case as a double homicide, with no signs of forced entry or burglary.
Authorities revealed the suspect, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, entered the home through an unlocked door. A violent struggle ensued when the couple returned, resulting in their deaths. Boodarian fled but was arrested on July 16 with the FBI’s help. Investigators are probing whether he had any prior connection to the victims.
Days before the murders, a neighbor reported seeing someone climb the couple’s fence, but police found no suspicious activity at the time. The incident is now under renewed scrutiny as a possible precursor to the crime.
Kaye, a 15-season veteran of “American Idol,” also worked on shows like “Lip Sync Battle” and the NAACP Image Awards. Her contributions earned her multiple Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. The couple’s home was previously owned by the late rapper Juice WRLD.
“American Idol” released a heartfelt statement, calling Kaye a “cornerstone” of the show and expressing deep condolences. Colleagues and friends remembered her as kind, down-to-earth, and deeply respected in the industry.
Security consultant Guy Cohen, who worked with the couple after a prior burglary, expressed heartbreak over the tragedy. He described them as “super nice people” and lamented that more couldn’t be done to prevent their deaths.
Former “American Idol” contestants, including Casey Abrams and Rayvon Owen, shared touching tributes. Owen recalled Kaye’s mentorship during his season, calling her a guiding force. The entertainment world mourns her loss as the investigation continues.
