There’s been a major update

In a significant reversal, former President Donald Trump has signed a bill mandating the public release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. He had initially strongly opposed the release of these files.

The decision comes after intense and growing public and political pressure for transparency. The debate over the documents has been ongoing for some time.

Trump announced his change of position in a post on his Truth Social platform. He claimed Democrats were using the Epstein issue to distract from his political victories.

The legislative push for disclosure gained overwhelming momentum in a recent congressional vote. The measure passed with a nearly unanimous vote of 427 to 1.

This decisive vote placed considerable pressure on Trump to authorize the release. The vast bipartisan majority made opposition politically difficult.

The new law will force the Department of Justice to make the files public. It is now bound by this legislative order.

When pressed on a timeline for the release, Trump’s attorney general, Pam Bondi, stated that the Department of Justice will “continue to follow the law.” The department is now obligated to comply with the newly signed bill.
