The most dangerous US state to travel to alone has been shared
A recent study highlights the risks of solo travel, identifying the most dangerous US state for those vacationing alone. New Mexico has been ranked as the most hazardous destination for solo travelers.
The study, conducted by Silver Law Firm, gave each state a safety score out of 100. New Mexico received the lowest possible score of zero, making it the most perilous location.
This rating was determined by analyzing data on crime rates, road safety, and emergency service access. New Mexico’s high violent crime rate and frequent car accidents significantly contributed to its poor score.
The state’s vast rural areas present additional dangers, including long stretches without cell service or gas stations. Travelers are advised to prepare with offline maps and extra supplies.
Following New Mexico, Arkansas and Tennessee were ranked as the second and third most dangerous states for solo travel, with scores of 10.39 and 13.68 respectively.
In contrast, the safest states for solo travelers are in the Northeast. New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts all scored highly.
Massachusetts, for example, was praised for its excellent road infrastructure and reliable cell service, which minimizes the risks of isolation for those traveling alone.
