Donald Trump’s ‘Arc de Trump’ could cost $100M and be bigger than Lincoln Memorial

According to a report from Axios, former President Donald Trump has proposed a major new monument for Washington, D.C. Named the “Arc de Trump,” the project is envisioned to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary. The design would be inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

The planned arch would be a significant structure, even larger than the Lincoln Memorial. It is estimated to cost approximately $100 million. The project would be financed through fundraising efforts rather than direct government funding.

The monument’s intended location would welcome visitors entering the capital from Arlington National Cemetery as they cross the Memorial Bridge. Trump has suggested that the site currently feels incomplete and that the arch would fill that void.

Reportedly, Trump is a strong proponent of the grandest design option. He has shown a preference for a large, ornate version of the arch, described as being big and featuring gold and white colors.

During meetings with donors, Trump has presented mock-ups of the proposed arch. One described model featured marble eagles and a gold statue of Lady Liberty at its center.

This is not the only change Trump has envisioned for the capital. His administration previously oversaw the demolition of the White House’s East Wing to construct a new ballroom, a move that received mixed public reactions.

The “Arc de Trump” proposal is now sparking a new debate. The public is divided, with some seeing it as a valuable addition and others criticizing it as an unnecessary vanity project.
