Richard Ramirez, later known as “The Night Stalker,” was born on February 29, 1960, in El Paso, Texas. He was the youngest of five children in an immigrant family that faced significant financial difficulties.
His early life was marked by a tense and fearful home environment, largely due to his father’s unpredictable temper. This instability, combined with the poverty they endured, left deep emotional scars during his formative years.
Further complicating his childhood, Ramirez suffered multiple head injuries. Doctors would later speculate that these incidents may have had a lasting impact on his behavior and his ability to control his impulses.

Between 1984 and 1985, Ramirez committed a series of violent crimes that terrorized Southern California. After his capture in 1985, he was convicted of multiple murders and spent the remainder of his life in prison, where he died in 2013.
