JD Vance Debunks Left’s Lies on Govt. Shutdown in Response to Breitbart’s Matt Boyle at WH Press Briefing
Vice President JD Vance has accused Democratic leaders of spreading falsehoods regarding the recent government shutdown. He specifically challenged two of their central claims during a press briefing.
The first claim was that the shutdown was caused by former President Trump and Republicans. Vance refuted this by pointing to the voting record, stating that nearly all House and Senate Republicans voted to open the government.
He emphasized that President Trump was prepared to sign a bill to end the shutdown. Vance asserted the obstruction came from Senate Democrats, who largely voted to keep the government closed.
The second claim Vance addressed was that Democrats do not support providing healthcare to illegal immigrants. He stated the legislative text and administration actions prove otherwise.
Vance argued that the Biden administration restored funding for illegal immigrants’ healthcare and granted legal status to millions, granting them access to taxpayer-funded benefits. He connected this to longer hospital wait times for American citizens.
He accused Democrats of a “sleight of hand” by denying these healthcare benefits were for illegal aliens. Vance concluded that Democrats were willing to shut down the government to protect these benefits.
He finished by stating the Trump administration’s priority is ensuring government resources benefit American citizens first.
