Charlie Kirk suspect sent disturbing messages to friends after assassination
New details have emerged in the case of Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter of commentator Charlie Kirk. Discord messages reportedly show Robinson making jokes with friends after the FBI released a photo of the suspect.
In one exchange, a friend tagged Robinson with the image. Robinson allegedly replied that it was his “doppelganger” trying to get him in trouble. Other users in the chat made jokes about the situation.
Authorities had previously revealed that a roommate provided screenshots of messages. These allegedly discussed retrieving a rifle from a “drop point” and leaving it wrapped in a towel.
Robinson, 22, was arrested after his father recognized him from released images and convinced him to surrender. He is being held without bail on charges including aggravated murder.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox provided personal context, stating Robinson had been in a romantic relationship with a roommate who was transitioning. The governor confirmed Robinson is refusing to cooperate with investigators.
The investigation continues as officials analyze the recovered bolt-action rifle and other forensic evidence. The authenticity and full context of the alleged Discord messages remain part of the ongoing inquiry.
