Everything we know about Charlie Kirk murder suspect following his arrest

Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah, was arrested on September 12th as the suspect in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. Kirk was killed on September 10th during an event at Utah Valley University.

Authorities reported that a family member recognized Robinson in released surveillance footage and contacted police. They alleged that Robinson had confessed to or implied his involvement in the incident.

Robinson is a student in an electrical apprenticeship program. He previously attended UVU for a single semester in 2021 but was not a current student there.

His grandmother described him as a shy and studious young man who never discussed politics. She expressed disbelief that he could be involved, stating he did not own guns.

However, officials claim Robinson had recently become more political. They cited a family dinner where he allegedly expressed strong opposition to Kirk’s viewpoints.

Evidence includes messages, which Discord disputes are from its platform, and bullet casings with unusual engravings. Robinson’s roommate provided this information to investigators.

Robinson is expected to face charges including aggravated murder, which could carry the death penalty. Formal charges have not yet been filed as the investigation continues.
