Active shooter ‘guns down twenty people at Minneapolis church’

A mass shooting occurred at the Annunciation Church in Minneapolis on August 27, 2025, prompting a major emergency response. The incident, which began around 8:30 AM local time, resulted in at least two fatalities and approximately 20 people injured.

Four of those wounded are reported to be in critical condition. Several children were among the victims and were safely evacuated from the scene.

Authorities are also investigating a possible explosive device inside the church. A bomb squad is on site, supported by numerous police officers and a State Patrol Helicopter.

A local resident described hearing over 100 rounds of gunfire just blocks from his home, followed by the sound of approaching sirens.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey confirmed he is aware of the “horrific violence” and is in contact with police leadership. He urged the public to give emergency responders space to do their work.

Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect described as wearing all black and carrying a rifle. The shooter’s current status remains unclear.

The community is in shock as the situation continues to develop. Authorities are advising people to avoid the area as the investigation unfolds.
