President Donald Trump announced a surprise national address in a Truth Social post on Tuesday, December 16th. The 79-year-old president stated he would speak live from the White House at 9 P.M. EST the following evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He declared it had been a \u201cgreat year\u201d for the country and promised \u201cTHE BEST IS YET TO COME,\u201d signing the message as \u201cPRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.\u201d Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed the address to reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She indicated Trump would highlight his administration\u2019s accomplishments over the past eleven months. Leavitt said he would also outline plans for the next three years, promising a \u201creally good speech.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This announcement coincides with newly declining poll numbers. A recent Reuters\/Ipsos poll shows his overall approval rating has fallen to 39%, a new low across both of his terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Approval of his economic handling also dropped to 33%. The poll indicates rising disapproval ratings, including within his own party\u2019s MAGA Republican base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump is expected to speak from the Oval Office\u2019s Resolute Desk. This would mark his third such address since his inauguration in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
